English Spelling by Ed Rondthaler… Mr. Rondthaler was 103 years old when this video was made. If you aren’t familiar, I’d suggest starting with his (well-written) obituary: Edward Rondthaler, Foenetic Speler, Dies at 104.

When I was in gradeschool the teachers quickly realized I had trouble spelling. They told me to “Sound out” the words.  My grandfather a Croatian immigrant still can’t understand why we do not spell Phonetically in English. If he put Croatian litirature in front of me, all it would take for me to read it perfectly is to sound it out.
